2.  Once the Internet Options window appears, please click on the Advanced tab

3.  On the Advanced tab, scroll down until you see Microsoft VM or Java Sun. :

4. If you have NO Microsoft VM or Java Sun listed please see installation instructions below:


Firefox

1. In the Firefox Address bar enter 'about:plugins' without the quotes.

2. Firefox should display the java version as shown below.  In most cases you will have to scroll down the page to see this listing.

 

Mozilla

1. In the Mozilla Address bar enter 'about:plugins' without the quotes.

2. Mozilla should display the Java version as shown below.  In most cases you will have to scroll down the page to see this listing.

Netscape

1. In the Netscape Address bar enter 'about:plugins' without the quotes.

2. Netscape should display the Java version as shown below.  In most cases you will have to scroll down the page to see this listing.

Safari

1. Open this page in a Safari browser window: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

2. In the page that is displayed it should tell you what  Java version is installed as shown below:

 

 

 

Java Runtime Environment Installation instructions**:

To install Java Runtime Environment from Sun Microsystems please do so from the following site:

JRE 1.6.0

SkillSoft currently supports 1.3.1_02 up to 1.6.0 dependant on your current platform and SkillSoft player. It is recommended that you install JRE 1.6.0, in order to access your e-learning.

IMPORTANT!: If you are working from a PC within your office environment, it may be advisable to have your local IT/Helpdesk personnel validate that software meets acceptable standards prior to installation.

**Though this software upgrade is required in order for SkillSoft Java content to function normally within your browser, it was created by a third party vendor. SkillSoft can assume no responsibility for any complications that might arise as a result of the attempted installation.

 

Detailed Installation Instructions for JRE 1.6.0

1.  Go to the following location on Sun Microsystems site: JRE 1.6.0

2.  Click on the Download JRE option

3. You will next be prompted to select your operating system, your language, and you will have to place a check in the License agreement box as shown below.  Once all selected click on 'Continue'

4. Now you will have to click on the jre-6-windows-i586.exe link to start the download

5.  Click on the run button to start the install of the application as shown below

6. Once the file is downloaded the installation will start automatically.  You will need to check off the Typical Setup option, then you can click on the Accept button

7. The installation will take a few minutes to load o your system and then you will be prompted with the below message.  Please click on Finish

9. A restart of your system may be required at this interval.  Please close any open programs and then click Yes to restart your system

10. Once your system is restarted you will be required to configure the Java Plug-in.  Please go to your Start Button, Settings, Control Panel

11. You can now click on the Java Icon

12. A new window will open.  Click on the Update tab, then uncheck 'Check for Updates Automatically', select Apply and then click Ok.

13.  From this point the configuration is complete and you should be able to access your courseware
